Performance and technology are at the highest levels in the Alfa Giulietta, with a range of engines that represent state of the art technical performance and environmental friendliness.
The Alfa Giulietta is available with 6 different Turbo engines:three petrol (1.4TB 120 bhp, 1.4TB MultiAir 170 bhp and 1750 TBi 235 bhp direct injection) and three second-generation MultiJet diesel (1.6 JTDM-2 105 bhp and 2.0 JTDM-2 140 bhp and 170 bhp).
All the engines meet Euro 5 regulations and are equipped with Start&Stop system to reduce fuel consumption, with the exception of the 1750 TBi 235 bhp.
1.4 Turbo MultiAir engines, featuring a power range between 135 and 170 bhp, set new efficiency standards.
In particular, the peak 170 bhp version, with its 125 bhp / litre, marks a very high specific power that ensures sporty performance setting a record in fuel consumption and emissions.
The MultiAir technology, due to air intake direct control system, cylinder by cylinder and stroke by stroke, without using the throttle, reduces fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by up to 10%, obtaining, at the same time, increased power by 10% and an improvement in torque by 15%.
In addition, through careful combustion control, pollutant emissions are also reduced.
The brilliant 1750 TBi 235 hbp engine boasts cutting-edge technical solutions such as gasoline direct injection, double continuous variable valve timing, turbocharger and the revolutionary "scavenging" control system which eliminates the turbolag. This is a unique technology that controls and optimises, moment by moment, the fuel dosage, the two variable timing valves position, ignition advance and the initial timing.
The 1750 TBi 235 HP engine boasts record performance: it is the Alfa Romeo engine with the highest specific power (195 HP / I) in the brand history as well as an extraordinary best in class torque specific for petrol engines of this category. This engine is only available on Quadrifoglio Verde trim, which recalls the famous brand that has competed and won on circuits throughout the world.
The JTDM-2 engines are equipped with innovative injectors that control more precisely the fuel amount and injections frequency. The new 2.0 JTDM-2 140 HP engine with Start&Stop series is top class for torque values and acceleration on one hand, fuel consumption and emissions on the other.
Thanks to its characteristics, the 2.0 JTDM-2 140 HP is the engine with the best balance between fuel consumption and performance in its category.
The Start&Stop system, manages the engine stop and its subsequent restart, during all idling phases, while the gear is in neutral position. As soon as the gear is engaged, the system timely restarts the engine, ensuring an immediate response to all control systems. The result is a reduced fuel consumption and decreased emissions (by up to 10%), without any vibration or noise during the stop.
The Gear Shift Indicator (GSI) device is a true "co-pilot" which suggests discreetly to the driver how to use the engine more efficiently, ensuring smooth and comfortable driving together with fuel saving.
The GSI is always active when the Alfa Romeo DNA selector is in Normal or All Weather position, and through an appropriate indication on the control panel, it may suggest to engage a higher gear to obtain combustion with a less rich mixture of gasoline, or it may suggest to drop to a lower gear in order to exploit to the utmost the available torque.

The new compact architecture of Alfa Romeo Giulietta represents a real technical and technological leap over all the platforms that preceded it. Due to the compact and functional structure and the materials used, it provides new levels of excellence in terms of comfort, dynamic driving and safety on board. Compared to the previous generation, the entire architecture has been redesigned improving performance and strenght and reducing weight.
The lightness of this architecture results in excellent performance (both in acceleration 0-100km / h, and in accelleration 40-80Km / h and 80-120 km / h) in addition to a significant reduction of the braking distance also due to the Pre-Fill system.
The "Alfa Romeo" drive experience is guaranteed by sophisticated suspensions, active Dual Pinion steering, as well as the use of high-strenght aluminium and steel.
Compact architecture was also designed to complement and enhance to the utmost all of the car features, emphasizing the three set-up functions (Dynamic, Normal and All Weather) made available by the Alfa Romeo DNA selector. The steering wheel is equipped with the innovative Dual Pinion servo assisted system, whose two pinions are keyed directly on the rack. The starter engine is placed on the rack , hence inside the engine compartment, instead of the steering column to achieve a safer condition for the driver in the case of a frontal impact by eliminating the need for knee airbag.
The highest percentage of aluminium and light and ultra resistant alloys makes the floor of Giulietta lighter and stronger, with benefits in performance and fuel economy.
The front-wheel suspension of Giulietta, McPherson type, have been reworked for maximum stiffness under lateral loads and to reduce the weight , 4 kilos, compared to a traditional solution. Aluminum alloys were used for the uprights, and high-strenght steel for the arms and the crossbar; some structural components have been optimized, with high returns on driving comfort.
For the rear suspension, a sophisticated Multilink system has been adopted, which, thanks to its new aluminum arms, weighs over 10 Kg less than a traditional Multilink. Its geometry guarantees comfort, roadholding, stability and safety under any condition.
Giulietta offers two different types of driving experience. The standard structure allows a perfect balance between comfort and agility and comes with the Progression and Distinctive versions. The Quadrifoglio Verde structure offers fun and safe driving thanks to the sport rims, available in 17" and 18".

The Electronic Q2 is a self-blocking differential that distributes the torque between the front wheels ensuring maximum driving precision and safety.
In particular, it allows the maintenance of a trajectory consistent with the steering wheel angle set at high speed or low grip, effectively nullifying the understeer and allowing safer driving.
The Dynamic Steering Torque (DST) gives driver torque feedback through the steering wheel, helping him to correctly perform any critical trajectory; through an impulse signal on the steering it suggests to the driver the correct countersteering maneuver.
The braking system is equipped with the Pre-fill system, a new function that is activated when driving in DNA Dynamic mode. When the control unit perceives a dangerous situation that requires rapid braking, the system is put under pressure a few moments before the driver presses the brake pedal, so as to reduce the stopping distance of the car.
Giulietta Alfa Romeo DNA system, up to only available on racing cars and already tested on Alfa MiTo, acts upon the engine, brakes, steering, suspension and gear (automatic where present), allowing three different patterns, according to the situation or the driving style chosen.
For a sportier style simply move the lever to Dynamic position: so Alfa Romeo DNA activates the Q2 Electronic system that, while making the steering less servo-assisted for a sportier driving experience that guarantees impeccable control.

For a comfortable driving Normal mode is perfect: brilliant engine, very discreet Vehicle Dynamic Control and a DST set to avoid oversteer.
Normal mode also suggests gear change time thanks to the Gear Shift Indicator, which helps optimization of fuel consumption and emissions, for perfect city driving.
When driving on low grip surfaces All Weather mode is the right choice. It enhances the effect of traction control and increases sensitivity to mu-split, keeping the car stable while running on surfaces with different grip levels, such as when 2 wheels are on ice and 2 on asphalt.
The electro-hydraulic Dual Pinion steering is a standard feature on all Giulietta versions and guarantees optimal control.
Its name comes from the presence of two pinions.
The first pinion is connected to the steering column and directly mounted on the rack of the steering box, with no artificial filters between the wheels and the driver hands: this allows a better control, feeling the wheels connected to the steering-wheel.
The second pinion is connected to the electric actuator and is also mounted directly on the rack: this adds support to the driver during all maneuvers.
It is the device allowing the driver to choose between three driving modes according to his own style or different road conditions. It is activated by simply moving the switch placed in front of the gear lever.
There are three styles to choose among: Dynamic, Normal or All Weather.

Alfa Romeo Giulietta is equipped with the new integrated TMC PRO map navigation system.
It provides real-time traffic information and, due to its central position at the top of the dashboard, allows the driver to see the route and mechanical functioning parameters, without taking eyes off of the road.
The innovative BLUE&ME Tom Tom portable navigation system is available on Giulietta: high-tech, practical and safe even in the event of a crash.
Integrated with the infotainment system, it can be simply removed by pressing a button and can be navigated on a 4.3" coloured touch-screen which also allows the phone or USB output devices connection.
In addition to 45 Europe maps, Tom Tom is integrated with the Fuel Efficiency function, which monitors driving style, recommending the best solution according to consumption and emissions.
The new navigation system is integrated with the Alfa Romeo DNA selector and provides information on all of the three different settings.
In Dynamic mode for instance, the Dynamic Display is available, split in two areas: one showing information about the turbo pressure and the maximum power use rate, the other with the accelerometer indicating the longitudinal and lateral acceleration reached during the trip.
To customize Giulietta, there's the BOSE HI-FI system with CD-MP3 radio, with double tuner and double antenna, for a driving experience that involves all the senses.
